Product Description

I have been looking into switching from my micro 4/3 camera to the Fuji line. The Fuji sensor is larger and has developed a loyal following. While I’ve been using the Lumix cameras with success, and really liking the results, I’ve been considering jumping ship for Fuji. Then I heard about the new G9 from Panasonic. This camera is making me rethink the switch. I already have a number of Panasonic lenses and The G9 is a significant upgrade from my well travelled Lumix GX7. So here’s the rundown on the new G9 and why it’s likely to keep me from jumping ship.

Let’s take a look at who the G9 is for.  The G9 appears to be a camera geared towards still image shooters. That’s not to say it has no video capabilities but if your primary inter st is video, you may want to look at the GH5.

The G9 has some very impressive features, including 20 FPS continuous shooting, weather sealed construction, a flash sync port to connect an off camera flash, and a 1/8000 max shutter speed.  With that 20fps continuous shooting, you would think you might have a chance at shooting some sports. I’m looking forward to seeing how fast this camera will focus though.  The G9 also has 2 memory card slots.  This camera does not have a built in flash, though.

Comparing this to the soon to be released Lumix GX9, it’s got some more advanced features, as well as a larger price tag.  But this camera looks like Panasonic is serious about providing a solid camera with advanced features for still image shooters.
